Improve power quality with harmonic filters

Counteract grid imbalances by filtering out unwanted interference such as harmonics and mid-tones. With less generator power as a voltage source and more non-linear loads and advanced electronics in applications, the grid is becoming weaker. By using a harmonic filter, you can prevent negative effects on the grid such as outages, equipment breakdowns and costly production losses.

With our harmonic filter, you filter out currents that occur in the harmonics, that is, the higher frequencies. This reduces heat generation in cables and associated equipment, such as transformers. This means that you do not have to oversize, and get extended service life on the peripheral equipment.

By using a harmonic filter, you can ensure that you keep the overall harmonic level below the THDu 8% limits. This passive solution is a cheaper, but effective way to overcome imbalances in your facility.

The ongoing electrification requires the ability to maintain electromagnetic compatibility in the electric power system. One of the most common sources of interference are AC-DC and AC-AC converters used in various applications: for controlling motors, in electrolysis processes, in railway systems, in induction heaters, car chargers, etc. The main advantage of these drives is their energy efficiency and simple user interface. At the same time, the conversion from 50 Hz AC voltage to DC voltage or to AC voltage of different frequency creates some undesirable phenomena such as harmonics, intermediate tones, commutation dips and suppressors. These disturbances can have negative effects on networks and equipment, resulting in outages, equipment failures and costly production losses.
SWR-C is a power supply designed to eliminate the negative effects of nonlinear loads. SWR-C reduces harmonic distortion, commutation dips, high frequency interference and improves power factor. The SWR is made up of passive components and is connected in series with the inverter. The SWR blocks interference in both directions, which means that the interference created by, for example, the frequency converter is blocked from entering the network and the signals transmitted through the network are not affected by the SWR. Tramo ETV offers assistance at all stages of a power quality project. From input data collection and power quality measurements through system simulations, action proposals, design of filters and filter components, technical specification development up to commissioning and verification tests.
